This is an easy one--the beloved Meredith Baxter (formerly known as Meredith Baxter Birney). She still looks great after all these years. You know, once (when I lived in the apartment affectionately known as the architectually significant tenement) I forced Ross to watch the extremely riveting Betty Broderick story with me. For some reason Ross always gets strangely uncomfortable when I watch shows about wives who murder their husbands. I don't get it.
It wouldn't be so bad if our Netflix queue wasn't full of movies where the wife kills off her husband. Wait a tick . . . should I be worried?
I remember the three of us on our honeymoon in Spain when Kitty and I were talking incesently about famous A-list celebrities and Ross had no idea who Meredith Baxter Birney was. He won't forget her now that he has witnessed her rivity portrayal of Betty Broderick. Ever since he saw that movie he's been sleeping with one eye open. Way to keep him in line Kitty. That is the only way to keep a wild playboy like Ross from straying.
I love this game...but I think maybe we should give KTC and Ross a handicap--maybe they should have to wait an hour before responding. That will at least give me time to get on IMDB.
Oh, Abby, please tell me you are joking about the need to IMDB. If you don't know these celebrites like the back of you own hand then I am truly disappointed by your lack of refinement and sofistication.
I'll admit I didn't know her name, but I did say to my dear husband, "Oh, it's the mom from Family Ties," to which he responded, "Is that the show with the African-American family?" You can see that I have my work cut out for me.
Also, does anyone know the game button, button whose got the button? Ryan played that with his parents when he was little. Good thing he has a handsome face...
Todd: There is no need to be harsh. Not everyone has been as fortunate as you and KTC in their upbringing and opportunities for A-list-celebrity education. That is one of the things I hope to glean from this segment--a greater treasure trove of celebrity trivia.
Lindy: Um. Of course I know the game "Button, Button." It is a great American classic. Pioneer children played it around the campfire after a long day of walking beside the wagon trains. They didn't have solid wood Monopoly games with golden game pieces in the shape of mountie hats and maple leaves, like some people. I think you should be grateful that Ryan can pass on that cultural treasure to the Goose.
I of course know button button--a favorite in the Mike and Linda household while growing up. Another favorite--"the thimble game" where we would think of a color and then if that person guessed the color we would throw a thimble of water on them. Quite exciting. We didn't have luxurious games like candyland and what not--instead the cheap thimble game. That provided us with hours of entertainment--much like Meredith Baxter Birney.
I consider myself justifiably reprimanded! A favorite game of Lanni and I was called "Hey Coolaid, wait for me." This was a game we invented where one person would sit in a swivel chair and the other person would spin them as hard as they could and then yell "Hey Coolaid--wait for me," whilst trying to jump on the erstwhile spinning chair. It was dangerous, but we were rebels. Also, we poked a ton of holes in this same chair with knifes and forks to hear the popping noise it made. The first piece of new furniture my parents ever bought.
Lindy, you must have cool parents if they let you play with knives and stab whatever you wanted. I think for Christmas you should give the Goose her first set of Ginsus so she can start sharpening her stabbing skills.
Todd--you have such a good sense for the Goose's needs. That's why you'd make an excellent nanny. Right now I'm deciding between sharp, professional cooking knifes and some teething rings. I'll probably make a pros and cons list for each to help make my decision.
Lindy, that "Hey Coolaid" game sounds awesome. We used to play "Hey Cow!" on the way to school -- we'd stick our heads out of the window as we passed the pastures and shout "Hey Cow!" at the top of our lungs and count how many cows turned to look. Oh yeah. Hours of entertainment.
